SERVICE INFORMATION
Unsatisfactory engine performance may be due to a poor or dirty ground point in the engine compartment. Improper grounding for the ECM can cause poor driveability. In troubleshooting any complaints of stalling, hesitation or engine performance, first check all of the engine compartment ground points.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Inspect ground points for looseness and corrosion or dirt which could cause poor contact Tighten or clean as necessary.
Figure 1:
Be sure to check the following ground points (Figure 1):
a. The engine ground on the right shock tower for corrosion on the wire clip and the spade termninal.
b. The battery ground cable-to-body connection for full contact. Since this ground is on a painted surface, complete connection is achieved by the screw threads cutting through the paint
