1986-1988 I-Mark (JT) models with automatic transaxle within the following VIN range: G4111154 - J7560740
SERVICE INFORMATION
During a forced downshift from third to second gear, some vehicles may experience momentary engine flare of about 50 rpm. Installing a new band servo return spring will correct this condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
Install new band servo return spring as follows. Refer to Figure 1. Follow the removal and installation instructions in the appropriate Workshop Manual for each component.
1. Remove the left side drive shaft.
2. Drain all automatic transaxle fluid.
3 . Remove oil pan.
4. Remove servo piston.
5. Install new servo return spring.
6. Install a new O-ring into servo piston. Reinstall servo piston.
7. Reinstall oil pan.
8. Reinstall the drive shaft.
9. Refill transaxle case with DEXRON-II automatic transaxle fluid, using the amount specified in the Workshop Manual.
