VEHICLES AFFECTED 1986-1988 I-Mark (JT) models.

SERVICE INFORMATION A poor ECM ground connection at the intake manifold may cause the "CHECK ENGINE' light to flash intermittently while the engine is running. This loose connection may also cause an erroneous Trouble Code 13 (defective oxygen sensor) or an erroneous Trouble Code 44 (lean engine condition). off an affected vehicle exhibits any of these conditions, check for a poor ECM ground connection.

SERVICE PROCEDURE Inspect the ground bolt connection at the intake manifold for looseness and corrosion or dirt which could cause poor contact. See Figure I for turbocharged engines, Figure 2 for non-turbocharged engines.

If there is a plastic cover over the ground strap, it may be necessary to remove the plastic cover in order to provide a reliable ground connection.

Tighten or clean as necessary. Torque specification is 6 foot-pounds.
