1987 I-MARK (JT) EMISSIONS CAMPAIGN

This Campaign Bulletin supercedes Campaign Bulletin SB91-03-007, issued October 1991. All copies of SB91-03-007 should be destroyed. The Service Procedure and Flat Rate Manual Information have been revised. Revised information is printed in the shaded areas.

Dealers must contact all owners previously deferred from scheduling an appointment to have this recall performed as a result of E-Mail message sent 1/17/92.

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Number 91E253 has been assigned to this campaign. This number will appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

1987 1-Mark (JT) non-turbocharged models (except California).

SERVICE INFORMATION

Affected vehicles are out of compliance with Federal emission standards. As a result they may not meet emission certification requirements and may fail state mandated emissions tests.

To correct this condition, the Programmable Read Only Memory (PROM computer chip) in the ECM must be replaced. In addition, a diagnosis test procedure must be performed in order to test oxygen sensor performance. If oxygen sensor voltage output is below specifications, the oxygen sensor must be replaced in accordance with the procedure in this Bulletin.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Owners of affected vehicles have been notified by letter from American Isuzu Motors Inc. (copy enclosed). Each Isuzu dealer has been supplied with a detailed list (sent with SB91-03-007) of affected vehicles originally allotted to that dealership. The list contains VIN and detailed owner information obtained from state motor vehicle registration records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any other purpose is a violation of law in several states. Accordingly, dealers are urged to limit the use of this listing to the follow-up necessary to complete this campaign. If none of the affected vehicles were shipped to a dealership, no list was sent.

PARTS INFORMATION

The following parts are available from American Isuzu Parts Distribution Network (AIPDN).

8-25105-107-0 Oxygen Sensor

The parts have been shipped automatically to each dealership, except California dealers.
