Dear I-Mark Owner:
This notice is about a safety defect that could result in an underhood fire.
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Isuzu Motors Limited has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in a small number of 1987 and 1988 Isuzu I-Mark Turbo models.
What is the defect?
In very cold weather, water can form and freeze in the PCV system hoses. This increases the pressure in the hoses and as a result, oil can be forced out of the engine.
What could happen?
As the oil hits hot engine parts, dark smoke will appear and if the engine is hot enough, the oil may ignite, causing a fire.
What should you do?
Contact your Isuzu Dealer any time after March 31, 1988 for an appointment to have your PCV valve replaced with a new one at no charge. Whenever possible, this will be done at the same time as your gas tank replacement and will take only a few minutes.
What if you have problems?
