Timing Belt Dust Cover Replacement On-Car Service




1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.


2. Loosen the air conditioning compressor, adjust plate bolt, then remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt. Loosen the power steering oil pump, adjust plate bolt, then remove the power steering oil pump drive belt. Loosen the alternator, adjust plate bolt, then remove the alternator drive belt.


3. Support the engine by using an engine hoist.



v4. Engine Mount

Remove the right side engine mount bolt (A) and engine mount bracket bolt (B). Then remove the body side engine mount cushion and the rear side torque rod.

5. Remove crank pulley bolts (4), with engine slightly lifted.


6. Timing Belt Dust Cover

Remove the bolts (total 6) fixing the timing belt cover, then remove the timing belt cover. Note:

Make sure the crankshaft timing mark on the crankshaft hub is aligned with Top Dead Center.
v7. Timing Belt Dust Cover Install the timing belt dust cover to the engine.
Torque kg-m(ft.lbs.)

v 8. Engine Mount Bracket Attach the engine mount cushion to the body, then lower the engine hoist gradually, aligning the bracket with the engine mount cushion. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

v9. Alternator, Power Steering Pump Adjust the V-belt and A/C compressor belt tension:
Belt Tension kg(lbs.)

41 +/- 10 (90 +/- 20)

Using a Borroughs drive belt tension gauge.
