Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Adjustments

When the IAC valve has been replaced, idle adjustment is required as follows:

1. Set parking brake, block wheels and place gear selector in neutral.
2. If the vehicle is equipped with power steering, face the wheels straight ahead.
3. All electrical equipment, including A/C, should be "OFF."
4. Jumper test terminals "A" and "C" of ALDL connector (located under the right side of the dash near the ECM).
5. Start engine and run under these conditions to reset pintle position:
a. throttle opening 10% or more
b. engine speed 2000 rpm or more
6. When the engine has reached normal operating temperature, check and adjust timing as needed.
7. Adjust idle speed screw to 950 rpm.
8. Remove ALDL jumper wire and clear trouble codes. To clear codes, temporarily remove the 30A ECM fuse in the engine compartment fuse block or disconnect the battery for at least ten seconds.
