Coasting Fuel Cut-Off System - Non Turbo Only
Coasting fuel Cut System:
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The coasting fuel cut-off (or slow cut) system blocks fuel flow in the slow (idle) circuit of the carburetor during deceleration. Without this system, the high manifold vacuum during deceleration would draw excessive amounts of fuel through the idle circuit causing a rich condition and after-burning in the exhaust manifold. The system is controlled by the ECM. When the slow cut solenoid (installed on the carburetor) is energized, fuel will flow through the slow circuit. The solenoid is energized whenever the engine is running, except when decelerating. If the ECM senses the throttle (TPS) in the idle position and the engine rpm is above 2,000 (coasting condition), the solenoid will be de-energized cutting off fuel flow until the engine speed drops below 2,000 rpm.
