SERVICE INFORMATION
All Isuzu dealerships are required to have a diagnostic scan tool to properly diagnose the 1989 Trooper II (KT) 2.8 liter V6 engine. AIMI has evaluated three types of hand-held diagnostic scan tools: OTC Monitor 2000, MPSI Pro Link 9000, and Expertec's Tech 1. While each of these tools will diagnose the 2.8 liter V6 fuel management system, the Tech I can be used on future Isuzu models for purposes other than engine diagnosis.
Any diagnostic scan tool that will read the GM 2.8 liter V6 throttle body injection system may be used
for engine diagnosis on the 1989 Trooper II V6 engine. However, due to its ability to read scan data for several diagnostic operations, the Tech I will be made an Isuzu Essential Tool for all 1990 models in the fall of 1989.
If a dealership currently does not have a diagnostic scan tool, AIMI strongly recommends purchasing the Tech I for use on the 1989 Trooper II V6 engine, as it will soon be an Essential Tool for future Isuzu models.
