Alternator: Service and Repair
W/MANUAL TRANSMISSION & TURBOCHARGED1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then isolate cable end with electrical tape or equivalent.
2. On models equipped with 4WD, drain transfer case.
3. Remove right front tire assembly, then tie-rod end from steering knuckle assembly.
4. Disconnect lower ball joint from steering knuckle, then remove driveshaft and hub assembly from vehicle.
5. Loosen the alternator adjustment bracket to engine retaining bolt.
6. Remove the alternator upper retaining bolt, then drive belt.
7. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect wiring harness from alternator.
8. Remove two bolts retaining the lower mounting bracket to the engine assembly.
9. Remove the alternator and lower bracket assembly from engine.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
