DTC 54
Code 23 indicates output terminal shorted to ground.Code 35 indicates an open circuit
Code 54 indicates a defective transistor or grounding system.
Codes 23, 35 & 54 Diagnostic Chart:
CHECK POWER TRANSISTOR
1. Disconnect power transistor harness connector.
2. Disconnect the high tension cable from distributor and ignition coil.
3. Connect one end of a suitable high tension cable to the coil and the other end to a spark plug in good condition. Ground the plug so that the electrode end is visible.
4. Turn ignition switch "ON."
5. Connect the positive side of a 1.5V dry cell battery to the "Y" terminal of the power transistor connector and the negative side to ground.
6. Disconnect the dry cell battery and check that a spark jumps the plug gap. Repeat the test several times.
7. If no spark occurs, replace the power transistor assembly.
