DIAGNOSTIC CHART

Code 63 Diagnostic Chart:

SPEED SENSOR TESTING

1. Connect circuit tester between ECM connector terminal "25" and ground.
2. Disconnect speedometer cable at transmission end and turn slowly.
3. If the tester alternates between continuity and open as the cable is turned, the speed sensor and circuit are functioning properly.

NOTE: Code 63 may set under the following conditions even if the system is not faulty:

1. Automatic transmission: In "D" range with brake pedal applied, the accelerator pedal is depressed over half throttle for more than 3 seconds.
2. Manual transmission: Slipping the clutch to hold the vehicle on a hill and depressing the accelerator pedal over half throttle for more than 3 seconds.
