Checking Fluid Level
1. Park the vehicle on level ground, then apply parking brake.2. Place transaxle in Park position and start engine. Allow the engine to idle for two minutes.
3. With the brakes applied, move the gear selector through all gear ranges, ending ion park.
4. Remove the dipstick. Carefully touch the dipstick with your finger to determine the temperature of the fluid.
a. If the fluid is cool or warm (approximately room temperature) or slightly higher, the fluid level should be within the cold range of the dipstick.
b. If the fluid is hot, the fluid level should be in the hot range of the dipstick.
5. If the vehicle has just been driven for a long period of time at highway speeds or in city traffic in hot weather, wait 30 minutes for fluid to cool down before checking fluid level.
6. Add Dexron II automatic transmission fluid to bring fluid to its proper level through the transaxle dipstick tube. Overfilling or underfilling could result in transaxle failure.
