Wiper and Washer Systems: Description and Operation
With the ignition switch in ON or START, battery voltage is applied to the windshield wiper motor and the windshield wiper/washer switch from fuse 8.LOW SPEED AND HIGH SPEED
When the windshield wiper/washer switch is pushed to LO or HI, the windshield motor is grounded through the switch to G4O1.
PARK/RUN
When the windshield wiper motor is out of the PARK position, it mechanically moves the PARK/RUN switch to RUN. When the windshield wiper switch is pushed to OFF, ground is applied through the PARK/RUN switch and the OFF position contacts of the windshield wiper switch to the windshield wiper motor. This keeps the motor operating in LO until the PARK/RUN switch returns to the PARK position. When the PARK position is reached, battery voltage is applied to the windshield wiper motor. Since voltage is present on both sides of the motor, it immediately stops.
WASHER
When the windshield wiper/washer switch is pushed to WASH, battery voltage is applied to the windshield washer motor and washer fluid is pumped on windshield.
