Installation

1. Place new gasket on cylinder block.
2. Carefully place the cylinder head on cylinder block dowel pins.
3. Apply engine oil to thread and seating face of cylinder head bolts.






4. Torque bolts to 40 Nm (29 ft.lbs) and then to 79 Nm (58 ft.lbs) in the sequence shown above.
5. Clean the sealing surface of the cylinder head, cylinder head cover, and the cover bolts of all oil and old sealing materials.






6. Apply a 2 - 3 mm (0.08 - 0.12 in.) wide bead of sealant (TB-1207B or equivalent) around the area of the number 1 and number 5 rocker brackets as shown above. Torque cover bolts to 10 Nm (89 in.lbs).
7. Install spark plug cables and PCV hose.
8. Install and adjust timing belt.
9. Install timing belt cover, torque mount bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft.lbs).
10. Install crank pulley, torque pulley bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft.lbs).
11. Install engine mount bracket to timing belt cover.
12. Install engine mount through bolt, torque to 69 Nm (51 ft.lbs).
13. Install generator and power steering pump drive belts.
14. Install engine mount fixing bolt and nut, torque bolt to 121 Nm (89 ft.lbs) and nut to 50 Nm (37 ft.lbs).
15. Install exhaust pipe to manifold, torque bolts to 57 Nm (42 ft.lbs).
16. Install RH engine bottom cover.
17. Check engine oil and coolant levels and adjust as necessary.
