Valve Clearance: Adjustments

1. Remove cam cover.
2. Position No. 1 piston at top dead center, compression stroke. In this position, adjust the following valves to specifications: No. 1 cylinder, intake and exhaust; No. 2 cylinder, intake; No. 3 cylinder, exhaust.
3. Rotate crankshaft 360° and adjust the following valves: No. 2 cylinder, exhaust; No. 3 cylinder, intake; No. 4 cylinder, intake and exhaust.
4. On all engines except 2.6L/4-156 and 1989-90 2.3L/4-138 engines, with the engine cold, adjust intake valves to .006 inch and exhaust valves to .010 inch.
5. On 2.6L/4-156 and 1989-90 2.3L/4-138 engines, with the engine cold, adjust intake valves to .008 inch and exhaust valves to .008 inch.
6. On all models, install cam cover.
