Mirrors: Description and Operation

The operation of the two power mirrors is controlled by the power mirror switch. Each mirror has two reversible motors: one motor moves the mirror up and down; the other motor moves the mirror left and right. The power mirror switch directs voltage to the driver's or passenger's door power mirror.

With the ignition switch in ACC or ON, voltage is applied through fuse 1 to the power mirror switch. With the master selector switch in DRIVER and the up/down switch in DOWN, voltage is applied through the down contacts of the up/down switch to the left power mirror up/down motor. Ground is provided through the driver contacts of the master selector switch and the down contacts of the up/down switch and the mirror goes down. In the UP position, voltage is applied to the opposite side of the motor.

The left/right switch works similarly to the up/down switch. With the master selector switch in the PASSENGER position, voltage is applied to the passenger's door power mirror motors which then operate in a similar way.
