SUBJECT: STEERING RACK LUBRICATION
MODEL: XJ6, VANDEN PLAS, & XJ-S HE
Dealers are reminded that severe damage to the power steering rack seals can be caused by over lubrication with pressure lubrication equipment.
Lubrication of the steering rack through the grease nipple need only be sufficient to lubricate the rack and pinion teeth. Only Multi-purpose Lithium grease, NLCI No. 2, applied sparingly with a hand grease gun should be used.
Please make all technicians and service personnel aware of this instruction.
