KEY POINTS REMOVING TAB FROM
EVAPORATOR TRAY TO PREVENT WATER ENTRY INTO RADIO
A few instances have occurred where intermittant radio left channel operation is apparent. Condensation from the A/C evaporator can accumulate in the lower tray. There are two holes located in the base of this tray through which is riveted an anti-vibration tab. If these rivets are improperly sealed, this causes water to run down through the rivets onto the tab. From this tab, water runs directly onto the radio, thus shorting out the unit.
The following steps are necessary for rectification:
1. Remove radio and locate the vibration tab which is located towards the front of the radio aperture at the underside of the A/C case.
2. Working through the radio slot, chisel off the aluminum rivet heads and remove the tab.
NOTE: Use sharp chisel.
3. Seal the remaining portion of the rivets and holes with silicone sealer.
4. Refit the radio.
