Subject: Fuel Inertia Switch

Models: XJ-S

Some 1982 XJS Models between VIN 105048 and 105572 could have the A post trim fouling the inertia switch button.

Vehicles in the VIN range should be inspected for the condition during routine service and modified if necessary, as follows:

1. Remove plastic shield from inertia switch (Driver's side A post).

2. Check trim forward of button for a retaining screw.

3. If a retaining screw is not fitted, drill a 3/32 inch hold 1/4 inch and 1/4 inch upwards as illustrated by arrow in image.
