On 90/91 MY Sedans, if the vehicle will not move in either Drive or Reverse, a mechanical fault exists. Refer to the Diagnostic Charts in Section 44 of the Sedan Range Repair Manual.

If the vehicle will move in both forward and reverse but the "Transmission Warning" light is on, perform a JDS "Electronic Transmission" test.

If diagnosis has identified an internal transmission problem, perform the following procedure:

^ Drain the transmission oil into a container. Note the color and smell of the oil.

^ Remove the transmission sump pan and oil filter and inspect for debris/metal particles and/or water.

If the oil is dark in color and any of the above oil conditions exist, refer to Administration Bulletin 6-22.
