SUBJECT: ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION
MODEL: XJ6
Technical Service Bulletin J83/45, issued in September, 1983, detailed a procedure for deglazing the cylinder bores. This bulletin suggested that it was not necessary to dismantle the cylinder head, however, experience has determined that it is also advisable to replace the valve guide oil seals on the inlet valves. Depending on the age and condition of the engine, consideration should be given as to the need to perform work on the valves and seals at the same time.
