Distributor:
1. Remove three screws securing distributor cap, then remove cap.
2. Rotate engine until rotor is aligned with line on flash shield. Also check timing mark on crankshaft.
3. Disconnect cable assembly for distributor pick-up at electrical connector plug.
4. Disconnect vacuum line from vacuum advance unit.
5. Remove ignition rotor, snap ring, washer, key, and reluctor.
6. Remove two screws securing pick-up mounting assembly to distributor housing and remove assembly.
7. Remove three spring-loaded screws securing distributor housing to lower distributor body, and remove housing.
8. Mark lower distributor body to block.
9. Remove three Allen screws holding lower distributor body to block and remove distributor body.
NOTE: Do not rotate engine with distributor removed.
10. Refit lower distributor body to engine, being careful to align marks. Leave allen screws just loose enough that body can be moved with some pressure.
11. Refit distributor housing to lower distributor body. Fit spring-loaded screws correctly. Be careful to align rotor with #1 mark on flash shield.
12. Refit pick-up mounting assembly.
13. Refit reluctor, key, washer, snap ring, and ignition rotor. Reconnect pick-up harness connector.
14. Refit distributor cap and wires.
15. Loosen micro adjuster lock nut and set vernier to "0".
16. Check ignition timing with vacuum line disconnected from vacuum advance unit. It should be:
18° BTDC at 3000 RPM, vacuum unit disconnected
Rotate complete distributor assembly until timing is correct.
17. Stop engine and remove distributor cap without moving distributor.
18. Use a long allen wrench to tighten allen screws. They can be reached through flash shield.
19. Refit distributor cap and recheck timing. Adjust with micro adjuster if necessary.
20. Tighten micro adjusting locknut.
21. Reconnect vacuum hose to advance unit and set idle speed to:
750 RPM
