Rough idle conditions and low CO readings may be due to incorrect adjustment of the throttle linkage and incorrect adjustment of the throttle potentiometer.
The throttle linkage adjustment is detailed in the XJ-S Repair Operations Manual, P/N AKM-3455A, Operation #19.20.05.
The throttle potentiometer adjustment requires the use of the adjusting gauge, P/N 60.973067. The adjusting procedure is detailed in the XJ-S HE Repair Operation Manual Supplement, AKM-3455/S1, Page #19-6.
In addition to these adjustment procedures, the electrical connections of the 35 pin multiplugs to the ECU must be checked before replacing the ECU.
