84jaguar01Date: March, 1984
ITEM: J84/10
SUBJECT: WATER LEAKS AND WIND NOISE "A" POST
MODEL: XJ-S
Water leaks or wind noise could be caused by an incompatable sealing surface between the window/door frame joint and the aperture seal, or distortion of the aperture seal by the door waste drain channel.
RECTIFICATION
A. Remove and discard the door drain channel, plug the three redundant holes and refinish as necessary. (Item 1)
B. Test vehicle at this point to see if condition has been rectified.
C. If fault is still apparent, remove the pear shaped seal. (Item 2)
D. Apply a body filler to the joint. When filler has hardened, shape to ensure a good profile. Replace the screw and paint as necessary.
NOTE: The door drain channel has been eliminated on production on later XJ-S vehicles from VIN-113869.
