FIRE PRECAUTIONS:

WHEN WORK IS BEING CARRIED OUT ON THE FUEL SYSTEM, FUEL AND FUEL VAPOR MAY BE PRESENT WHICH IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE, GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN AND THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS MUST BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO:

1 SMOKING MUST NOT BE ALLOWED NEAR THE AREA:
2 "NO SMOKING" WARNING SIGNS MUST BE POSTED ROUND THE AREA:
3 A C02 FIRE EXTINGUISHER MUST BE CLOSE AT HAND:
4 DRY SAND MUST BE AVAILABLE TO SOAK UP ANY SPILLAGE:
5 ENSURE THE FUEL IS EMPTIED FROM THE TANK USING SUITABLE FIREPROOF EQUIPMENT:
6 FUEL MUST NOT BE EMPTIED INTO A PIT:
7 THE WORKING AREA MUST BE WELL VENTILATED:
8 ENSURE THE FUEL IS EMPTIED INTO AN AUTHORIZED EXPLOSION PROOF CONTAINER:
9 THE DISCARDED TANK MUST NOT BE DISPOSED OF UNTIL IT IS RENDERED SAFE FROM EXPLOSION:

GOOD PRACTICE

The following instructions must be strictly observed:

1 Always disconnect the battery earth lead before removing any components.
2 Always depressurize the fuel system before disconnecting any fuel pipes.
3 When removing fuelling components always clamp the fuel pipes approximately 38 mm (1.5 in) from the unit being removed. Do not over tighten clamp.
4 Ensure rags are available to absorb any spillage that may occur. Observe all fire precautions.
5 When reconnecting electrical components always ensure that good contact is made by the connector before fitting the rubber cover. Always ensure the ground connections are made on to clean bare metal, and are tightly fastened using the correct screws and washers.

WARNING

1 DO NOT LET THE ENGINE RUN WITHOUT THE BATTERY BEING CONNECTED.
2 DO NOT USE A HIGH-SPEED BATTERY CHARGER AS A STARTING AID.
3 WHEN USING A HIGH SPEED CHARGER TO CHARGE THE BATTERY, THE BATTERY MUST BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE REST OF THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
4 WHEN INSTALLING, ENSURE THAT THE BATTERY IS CONNECTED TO THE CORRECT POLARITY.
5 ENSURE THE BATTERY IS NO LARGER THEN THE NOMINAL 12 VOLTS.
6 TEST ALL COMPONENT REMOVAL THAT RESULTS IN FUEL OR FUEL VAPOR BEING PRESENT IT IS IMPERATIVE TO OBSERVE ALL FIRE PRECAUTIONS AS DETAILED ABOVE.
