TRANSMISSION DRIVE PLATE

Dealers are reminded of the information contained in Technical Service Bulletin J85/47, issued in June, 1985, referring to checking the drive plate.

It is important to always check the drive plate for loose rivets or cracking in the area of the bolt securing holes when a transmission is removed for repair or replacement.

If the examination of the drive plate indicates a satisfactory condition, the drive plate should not be replaced. Drive plates found to have loose rivets or a cracking condition and replaced by a new part must be returned with the transmission unit. Claims for a subsequent failure due to drive plate damage will not be considered on Borg-Warner automatic transmissions.
