Door - Elimination of Resonance When Closed

KEY POINTS: ELIMINATION OF RESONANCE WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED
To eliminate resonance when the vehicle doors are closed, foam wedges should be installed between the outer door panel and intrusion bar. This modification was introduced commencing from VIN 524291 on production.

The door panel foam wedges are installed as follows:

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the upper and lower door interior panels.

3. Install three foam wedges in the front doors:

Apply 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (Yellow) to the flat side of the wedge. Insert the wedge between the door outer panel and the side intrusion beam with the flat side facing the panel. Center the wedge vertically behind the side intrusion beam, Fig. 1.

4. Install three foam wedges in the rear doors:

Apply 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (Yellow) to the flat side of the wedge. Insert the wedge between the door outer panel and the side intrusion beam with the flat side facing the panel. Center the wedge vertically behind the side intrusion beam, Fig. 2.
NOTE: Apply 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (Yellow) to the flat side of the wedge.

Insert the wedge between the door outer panel and the side intrusion beam with the flat side facing the panel. Center the wedge vertically behind the side intrusion beam.


CAUTION: Use hand pressure only to install the foam wedges. Do not use mechanical force.
