Fuel Supply System

In the XJ6, a recirculatory fuel system is used, with the fuel tank located across the car behind the rear seats. Fuel is drawn from the tank by an electric pump and delivered through a filter to the fuel rail located on the engine.

A pressure regulator is mounted on the fuel rail to maintain a constant fuel pressure of 35 to 45 psi across the injectors.

In order to prevent the engine from being flooded due to an injector stuck open, the fuel pump only runs when a reference pulse is received by the ECU indicating that the engine is running or cranking.
