Windshield Washer Reservoir - Modification
88jaguar03September 6, 1988
MEMO 090688
TO: ALL JAGUAR DEALERS
SUBJECT: XJ6 3.6 WINDSHIELD WASHER RESERVOIR
The current failure rate of the windshield washer reservoir on XJ6 models has prompted modification of both the production assembly procedures and the parts. In our continuing efforts to keep Jaguar Dealers up to date on current problems with Jaguar vehicles, we would like to inform you of the status of these modifications.
As of September built cars, approximate VIN 563702, the following modifications will take place:
- Modifications will be made to the o'ring in the neck of the reservoir to prevent fluid leaks.
- Mounting brackets, rods, and securing hardware will be "parkerized" with an anti-rust treatment.
- Mounting procedures will be modified on the assembly line to prevent over torque, which causes subsequent damage to the reservoir.
- Additional pad material will be added to the lower mounting bracket to help prevent damage to the reservoir during production line assembly.
To assist in rectifying this problem on vehicles already in service, spare parts will be made available for a service fix. Replacement reservoirs will also be available equipped with the low level switch already installed.
A Technical Service Bulletin will be issued detailing part numbers as soon as they become available.
