SUN ROOF MOTOR DRIVE CABLE

KEY POINTS: RATTLE CAUSED BY CONTACT BETWEEN ROOF PANEL AND MOTOR DRIVE CABLE
To rectify a rattling noise, which is caused by intermittent contact between the roof panel and the free end of the right hand motor drive cable tube, a foam covered cable tube is incorporated on vehicles commencing from VIN 527420.


NOTE: The location of the rattle is between the roof panel and headliner above the left hand sun visor.


Rectification Procedure:

1. Fully open sunroof.

2. Remove sunroof motor console and allow it to hang loosely from the cable connectors.

3. Remove the left hand sun visor and retaining bracket.

4. Remove the left rear assist strap.

5. Unclip and remove the left hand forward cantrail trim.

6. Remove sunroof aperture flange finisher.

7. Carefully lower the forward left corner of the headliner to allow access to the cable.

8. Install foam sleeve onto the end of the motor drive cable tube until 20 mm of the tube protrudes through the sleeve (Fig. 1).
9. Reinstall all components in reverse order.


NOTE: If the retaining clips (studs) are broken during cantrail removal, remove the broken segments and insert new clips.
