VEHICLE CONDITION MONITOR (VCM)

DESCRIPTION

Low Coolant Level Symbol:




A low coolant level indication is shown when the coolant within Cooling System is low. The symbol has a red surround and is operated, via LS1-17, by a signal at B54-21 from the coolant level sensor.

Fasten Seatbelt Symbol:




The fasten seatbelt indication is shown when the driver or passenger seat is occupied and the seatbelt is unfastened. The symbol has a red surround and is operated by a signal at B54-26 from the CPU initiated by seat and seat belt switches.

Circuit Failure Symbol:




The circuit failure indication is shown when a fuse within a fuseblock has failed. Following the first line of the message are the numbers 1, 2 or 3 which identify the fuseblock where the failed fuse is contained. The symbol has a red surround and is operated by inputs as follows:
Circuit 1 failure:- input from the right-hand fuseblock via B54-5.
Circuit 2 failure:- input from the left-hand fuseblock at B54-6.
Circuit 3 failure:- input from the center fuseblock at B53-19.

Bulb Failure Symbol:




The bulb failure indication is shown when an exterior lamp bulb has failed. The symbol has an amber surround and is operated either by a direction indicator bulb fail input at B54-8, or a general bulb fail input at B54-2.

Fuelling Failure Symbol:




The fuelling failure indication is shown if a fault has occurred in the Engine Management System (3.6 litre engines only). The symbol has an amber surround and is operated by a signal at B53-10 from the ECU.

When a fuelling failure exists, numbers 1 to 8 are displayed each time the ignition is switched ON. These numbers identify the nature of the fault and are defined in the Engine Management System.

Brake Failure Symbol:




The brake failure indication is shown when the pressure within the Power Hydraulic System is low. The symbol has a red surround and is operated, via RS22-10, by a signal at B54-1 from the power brake relay.

Brake Pad Low Symbol:




The brake pad low indication is shown when a brake pad has worn low. The symbol has an amber surround and is operated by a continuity loop connected between B54-2 and B54-3.

Brake Fluid Low:




The brake fluid low indication is shown when the fluid in the brake fluid reservoir is low. The symbol has a red surround and is operated, via RS24-2, by an input at B54-23 from the brake fluid level sensor located in the reservoir.

Handbrake On Symbol:




The handbrake on indication is shown when the handbrake is applied. The symbol has a red surround and is operated by an input at B54-9 from the handbrake switch.

Washer Fluid Low Symbol:




The washer fluid low indication is shown when the fluid in the washer reservoir is low. The symbol has an amber surround and is operated, via RS22-19, by an input at B54-22 from the washer fluid level sensor.

Door Open Symbol:




The door open indication is shown when one or more of the vehicle doors is open. The symbol has a red surround and is operated from the door courtesy light switches as follows:
Driver door: input, via B8-13, at B54-14.
Passenger door: input, via B61-21, at B54-15.
Left-hand rear door: input, via LS1-22, at B54-16.
Right-hand rear door:input, via RS22-18, at B54-17.

Luggage Compartment Open Symbol:




The luggage compartment open indication is shown when the luggage compartment lid is open. The symbol has a red surround and is driven, via RS22-26, by an input at B54-18 from the luggage compartment open switch.

Anti-lock Brake Failure Symbol:




The anti-lock failure indication is shown when a fault has occurred in the Anti-lock Braking System.

The symbol has an amber surround and is operated, via LS2-5, by an input at B53-22 from the anti-lock brake modulator.
