Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation

Fuel Pump Relay:

Fuel pump relay, located under right dash panel, controls operation of fuel pump. Relay is energized for approximately .5 seconds when ignition is switched "ON", to pressurize fuel system. When engine cranking begins, relay is energized again. If ECU senses engine is running, relay will remain energized for continued pump operation. If engine stops with ignition turned on, ECU will interrupt ground circuit for fuel pump relay.
