Rear

Rear Hub Assembly:

The hub bearing end float is controlled by a spacer located next to the universal joint on the halfshaft. Spacers are available in thickness from 0.109-0.151 inch (0.003 inch increments). End float tolerance is .001-.003 inch. Correction must be made if beyond specification.

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Remove wheel and gently tap hub.
3. Clamp backlash gauge tool No. JD-13A or equivalent, to hub carrier so stylus of dial gauge contacts hub flange.
4. Note reading of gauge. Using two levers, move hub to fullest extent and note reading of gauge.
5. If difference of readings exceeds .004 inch, proceed with adjustment procedure.
