Centrifugal Advance

Engine Component Locations:

1. Engine OFF.
2. Disconnect or clamp distributor vacuum hose.
3. Start engine and check timing at idle.
4. Observe timing mark and increase engine speed to 3000 RPM.
5. Timing mark should move approximately 16 ° from idle position.
6. If timing mark moves correctly, stop engine and refit vacuum hose or remove clamp.
7. If timing mark does not move as engine speed increases, centrifugal advance mechanism is stuck and will require repair. Refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES / CENTRIFUGAL ADVANCE.
