1988 MY XJ-S vehicles incorporate a 10/20 amp fuse at position #9 on the main fuse board, protecting the wiper motor circuit.

During windshield wiper operation, a fuse failure will disable the wiper arm at the position where the fuse failed.

To help prevent the fuse from blowing under normal operating load conditions, this fuse may be upgraded to a 15/30 amp fuse, (ADU 1877/J).

Commencing from VIN 148782, all 1989 XJ-S vehicles incorporate the upgraded windshield wiper fuse.
