Strut Noise Up to VIN 617978

A revised ride height sensor was introduced at VIN 617978, to address problems of ride leveling strut knock. Each time the engine is started, ride leveling circuit is pressurized for a few seconds to prevent gradual loss of "trapped line pressure", and ensure adequate pressure is maintained in struts.

If strut knock occurs, be sure system has been upgraded with late type relief valve, high pressure hose and ride height sensor. It will be best to check with an authorized Jaguar dealer for proper identification of parts.

NOTE: There was a factory recall (D348), applicable to 1988-89 model years, dealing with this problem. Check with a Jaguar dealer to determine if the recall was performed.

The recall replaced the high pressure hose from pump to valve block, and accumulator switches.
