Procedure "B":
Propshaft Alignment -^ Check gearbox mountings and ensure that gearbox center stud is central to the inspection hole in the base of the cross-member.
^ Ensure that the gearbox cross-member is central on the body mountings, not towards one side. Also ensure that there is no side load due to incorrect setting of the front engine mountings.
^ Check the propshaft alignment using plumb-lines attached to the propshaft, (Fig. 2). Position plumb lines at each end of the tube avoiding welds and balance weights.
With the propshaft in perfect lateral alignment, the plumb-lines will be offset by 19 mm, (Fig. 2). This offset is caused by the different diameters of the front/rear propshaft tubes. To achieve the required alignment of 21 mm, adjust the center bearing to the left.
Vertical alignment of the center bearing of the center bearing can be achieved by adding/deleting spacers, which are available in two thicknesses, CBC 7253/1 (1 mm) or CBC 7253/2 (3 mm).
