KEY POINTS: FUSE INFORMATION
Beginning with 1989 M.Y. (VIN 556851), the "A" Post fuse boxes (circuit 1 & 2) on XJ6 3.6 vehicles have been increased in size from 14 fuses to 17 fuses. JDS Software is not available for the vehicle at this time, however the following fuse information is available:
Right Hand Fuse Box
Fuse 15 - Trailer (not USA specification) Fuse 16 - Windscreen Washer (replaces in-line fuse) Fuse 17 - Headlamp Power Wash (replaces in-line fuse)
Left Hand Fuse Box
Fuse 15 - Accessory Fuse Box (supply to accessory fuse box in trunk. The fuse box is to be introduced shortly)
Fuse 16 - Not Used Fuse 17 - Not Used
The above fuses feed through additional connectors on the back of the fuse box. The connector numbers are LS63 (left hand fuse box) and RS81 (right hand fuse box).
JDS may still be used to check the power wash and windshield washer circuits. However, when the system asks to check the in-line fuses, the operator should go to the fuse box.
NOTE: Normal battery voltage exists when voltage at test point is within .5V of voltage measured at battery terminals.
The remaining fuse outputs must be checked with a DVOM for normal battery voltage:
Left Side Fuse Box
Fuse 15 - LS63-1 Fuse 16 - LS63- Fuse 17 - LS63-
If battery voltage is present at the fuse but not at the respective connector, the fuse should be replaced.
