KEY POINTS: MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
Beginning with VIN 617978, a new ride height sensor has been introduced to prevent ride level strut knock due to a decrease of trapped line pressure. The new sensor incorporates a charge replenishment cycle each time the ignition is switched on.
The new sensor (DBC 6768) can be installed on all Sedans from 1988 MY using the following procedure:
CAUTION:
Before installing the new sensor on 1988/1989 MY Sedans:
^ The power hydraulic high pressure hose (CCC 2637) MUST be installed as part of recall campaign D348. The part number is stamped on the aluminum band wrapped around the hose.
^ The pressure relief valve in the solenoid valve block must be replaced with a revised valve (CCC 3832) using Service Tool JD 176.
On 1990 MY Sedans:
^ The high pressure hydraulic hose must be part number CCC 2625. The part number is stamped on the aluminum band wrapped around the hose. This hose was introduced at VIN 614000.
