Hydraulic Braking System - Tip

88jaguar07

SECTION: 70

No: 4
Model: XJ6 3.6 Date: DECEMBER, 1988

KEY POINTS: BRAKE PEDAL OPERATION
1988-1989 M.Y. XJ6 3.6 and VDP vehicles incorporate a power hydraulic braking system utilizing a separate engine driven pump and brake boost system. The boost system provides high brake line pressure and braking assistance over a greater range of brake pedal loads than the previously used vacuum controlled braking system.

A driver should be aware that when the vehicle is stationary and increasing brake pedal pressure is being applied, the brake pedal on the 1988-1989 XJ6 3.6 will tend to gradually move towards the floor of the vehicle. This is a normal condition for the brake system and in no way interferes with braking performance.
