Batteries-Maintenance and Testing Procedure

MODEL: All

DATE: 6/91

ISSUE:

Unnecessary replacement of batteries on vehicles in stock and in service due to poor battery maintenance and testing.

ACTION:

Batteries on all vehicles in stock must be checked and, if necessary, charged every 30 days.

NOTE:
If a battery problem exists, the battery and vehicle must be properly tested before battery replacement.

For correct maintenance and testing procedures, refer to the Focus Book Electrical System - Batteries and Charging: Second Edition, (S 70).

After battery testing, a Battery Test Report (W 18) must be completed and filed with the Vehicle History File. Warranty Claims for battery testing or replacement will be subject to debit when the completed Battery Test Report is not available.
