Primary Inputs
PRIMARY INPUTSThe engine will not start without these inputs.
1 TDC Sensor
The TDC sensor is mounted so that it is triggered by a 3 toothed wheel attached to the crankshaft pulley. This gives an 8° ATDC reference for each cylinder on 'A' bank.
The correct sensor air gap is 0.018-0.042in.
The sensor signal can only be checked using an oscilloscope (Fig 1). Connect the 'scope positive to ECU pin 1 or the sensor blue lead.
Connect the 'scope negative to ECU pin 2 or the sensor screen.
NOTE: Fig 1A = 1 engine revolution.
2 Flywheel sensor
The flywheel sensor is mounted so that it is triggered by each flywheel ring gear tooth to give an engine speed signal.
The correct air gap is 0.018-0.042in.
The sensor signal can only be checked using an oscilloscope (Fig 2). Connect the 'scope positive to ECU pin 16 or the sensor red lead.
Connect the 'scope negative to ECU pin 3 or the sensor screen.
NOTE: Fig 1A = 160 teeth per engine revolution.
