Ignition System: Tools and Equipment
As new electronic engine management systems are developed and incorporated into its vehicles, Jaguar issues appropriate information and test equipment to its dealers. Unfortunately, detailed test information and proprietary test equipment are not readily available to independent repair facilities.Because the information Jaguar does release, even in shop manuals, is incomplete at best, aftermarket sources tend to be similarly lacking. The same situation prevails with test equipment specifically designed to interface with Jaguar electronic systems.
Due to the lack of adequate information and test equipment, independent shop technicians faced with Jaguar engine management faults may encounter unusually difficult troubleshooting problems. Knowledge of vehicles with similar systems could be an important factor when attempting to diagnose and repair Jaguar cars. In some cases, there may be no choice but referral of vehicles to a Jaguar dealer.
