Sanden Compressor Clutch

Removal
1. Depressurize the air conditioning system.
2. Remove the bolt securing the muffler plate. Remove the muffler securing bolt.
3. Remove and discard the "0" ring seals. Fit protective caps to the disconnected hoses and a protection plate to the compressor.
4. Place the compressor in a vice, tighten the vice to the body lugs.





5. Fit tool JD166-1 (1) to the compressor, fit and tighten the securing screws (2).
6. Fit tommy bar (3) to JD166-1 and remove the drive clutch securing nut.





7. Fit tool JD166-3 (1) to JD166-1 and reposition the tommy bar to engage JDi 66-3.
8. Tighten the tool center bolt (2) to remove the drive clutch.
9. Remove the drive clutch complete with the tool attached from the compressor.

TIP: Set the tool center bolt to its original position for future use.





10. Remove the screws (2) securing tool JD166-1 to the drive clutch and remove the tool.
11. Remove the drive clutch air gap adjustment shims from the compressor shaft. Remove the woodruff key from the shaft.

Installation
1. Fit the woodruff key to the shaft and fit the drive clutch air gap adjustment shims on the shaft.
2. Align the drive clutch keyway with the woodruff key and then using a suitable piece of tubing push the drive clutch fully home on the compressor shaft.
3. Fit tool JD166-1 (1) to the drive clutch, fit and tighten the securing bolts.
4. Fit tommy bar JD166-2 (3) to JD166-1 and then fit and tighten the drive clutch securing nut.
5. Remove the screws (2) securing the tool to the drive clutch and detach the tool.
6. Check the air gap.
7. Remove the compressor from the vice and refit it to the vehicle.
