Engine Management System Testing
The instructions provided in JDS bulletin no. 51 are still valid for DBC 4040 and should be adhered to.ENGINE SET-UP
-Select "ENGINE SET-UP" from the main menu.
During an engine set-up procedure JDS will ask "IS A NEW AIR FLOW METER FITTED" when adjusting a new vehicle this question must be answered [NO]. Only answer [YES] if a new air flow meter has actually been installed on the vehicle.
Do not attempt an engine set-up if the check engine warning is illuminated on the instrument pack. Perform an engine management test first.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT TESTING -Select "ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS" from the main menu. -Select "ENGINE MANAGEMENT".
The engine management test will provide a specific fault diagnosis to the component/harness when a permanent fault is present. (DBC 4039 could only give an indication of of which system was faulty).
Before using JDS to diagnose a fault causing the "check engine" warning to illuminate, the fault code in the instrument pack must be noted. The technician will be able to use this information to investigate an intermittent fault that JDS is not able to produce specific information for.
