Installation Procedure:
^ Raise the rear of the vehicle and support on stands.^ Remove the R/H rear wheel and tire assembly to gain access to the ride height sensor. Disconnect the sensor link rod from the suspension mounting position.
^ Move the sensor from the mounting bracket and disconnect the block connector.
^ Remove the clip securing the link arm to the sensor. Note the position of the link arm to the sensor and remove the link arm mounting bolt. Remove the link arm/rod assembly.
^ Install the link arm assembly to the new sensor (DBC 6768). Install the clip. Move the link arm to the noted position and secure with the bolt.
^ Install the block connector to the ride height sensor. Install the sensor to the mounting bracket. Reconnect the link arm to the suspension mounting position.
^ Install wheels and tires. Lower the vehicle.
^ Open the hood and check the high pressure hose part number specification as per the "Caution" on page 1. Ensure that the correct hose is installed.
Use the following procedure on all 1988/1989 MY vehicles:
^ Remove the bolt securing the high pressure feed hose to the valve block mounting bracket. Reposition the high pressure hose and A/C hose assembly. Secure using string to gain access to the valve block assembly.
^ Using a cleaning fluid, clean the relief valve face and area around the valve block.
CAUTION: Absolute cleanliness is required during the removal and replacement of the pressure relief valve assembly.
^ Place a clean shop cloth under the valve block assembly.
^ Position an open ended wrench across the valve block (position the jaws over the "cast on" "Girling" insignia).
^ With the aid of an assistant holding the open ended wrench, use tool JD 176 and remove the pressure relief valve from the valve block.
FIG. 1:
NOTE: Service Tool JD 176 (Fig. 1 C) should be seated firmly against the face of the pressure relief valve during the removal procedure.
^ Ensure that the sealing rings are installed to the revised relief valve (CCC 3832). Using service tool JD 176, install the relief valve to the valve block. Tighten to 20-24 N-m. (15-18 ft.lbs.) Again, hold the valve block with an open ended wrench.
^ Remove the cloth from beneath the valve body.
^ Reposition the high pressure hose and the A/C hose on the valve block mounting bracket and secure with the bolt.
^ Check the system for leaks. Check/top-up the fluid level in the power hydraulic fluid reservoir.
