Antitheft and Alarm Systems: Testing and Inspection

ALARM FAULT DIAGNOSIS

** Adapted from Service Bulletin 8676 - Dated 08/90 **

If an alarm system fault exists and it cannot be traced using the alarm system diagnostic procedure (included in the installation booklet), it is possible to test the input/output signals to the alarm control module using a digital volt-ohmeter.

NOTE: The alarm system is interactive with the rest of the vehicle's electrical system. If a fault condition exists, it may be caused by a fault in a related circuit.

There are two connectors at the alarm system control module. F1 is a 14 pin connector and F2, a 16 pin connector.

It is only necessary to test connections associated with the part of the system which displays the fault.

Connector information is as follows:

F1 - 14 Pin:

F1 - 14 PIN

F2 - 16 PIN

NOTE: Vehicles equipped with passive arming systems will have F1-Pin 9 and F2-Pin 12 connected together at the passive arming link.
