Instrument Pack:

Using software issue DBC 4040 it is possible to diagnose internal faults in the instrument display, such as the following:

^ individual gauges
^ individual bulbs
^ flexible circuit board
^ LCD display
^ printed circuit board

To enable this type of diagnosis, some probing inside the instrument pack is necessary. This requires removing and opening the instrument pack.


CAUTION: Open the pack on a clean, flat surface. Do not disconnect the printed circuit board to flexible circuit board connectors.


With the pack open, JDS will ask the operator to to locate and probe pins inside the pack. When displaying messages to locate connectors inside the pack, JDS will display illustrations of the complete vehicle. The attached pages at the end of this bulletin provide details of the connector layouts inside the pack.

In order to test the instrument pack internally, new adaptors and a yellow test lead were issued with software issue DBC 4040. The test lead is used to provide a third probe when driving the gauges.
