EGR Vacuum Hose - Incorrectly Routed

89jaguar04

EGR VACUUM HOSE
SECTION: 17

No: 2
Model:

1990 MY SEDANS
Date: OCTOBER, 1989
KEYPOINTS: VACUUM HOSE ROUTING

FIG. 1:

1990 M.Y. sedan vehicles between VIN 591102-598597 may have the EGR vacuum hose incorrectly routed through the bulkhead securing straps.

An incorrectly routed hose may restrict the vacuum signal to the EGR valve, affecting EGR performance.

To ensure correct EGR vacuum hose routing, check all hoses/hose routing on vehicles within the above mentioned VIN range. For correct hose routing, refer to Fig. 1B.
If the EGR vacuum hose is incorrectly routed, use the following procedure:

^ Cut and then remove the ratchet straps that secure the EGR vacuum hose to the bulkhead, (Fig. 1A). Separate the vacuum hose from the harness.

^ Disconnect the vacuum hose from the solenoid vacuum valve (located at the rear of the inlet manifold). Route the vacuum hose, (Fig. 1B).
^ Reconnect the vacuum hose to the solenoid vacuum valve. Secure the harness to the bulkhead using two new ratchet straps, (ADU 9028).
